TEST INFORMATION:
The Fall Test is approved for September 30 and October 1.  If the interest is high enough, we will consider adding Friday, September 29th as a 3rd test day.
We had a discussion on judges and the policy for approving judging groups for tests.
Howard Zimmerman advised when local, regional, or out of region judges are required.

The question of a Spring Test came up but is was decided we would NOT have a spring test in 2006.  We could consider a Spring Test in 2007.

A committee was formed to look at the Chapter policy regarding test entry money.  When does the chapter keep the money for a dog pulled from the test vs. when will money be refunded and how much.  The committee consists of Denise Postin, Bobbi Benson and Barry Pearson.

The chapter will conduct a Mock Test at the training / meeting day in September.  This worked very well in 2005 by allowing members to become familiar with how the test will run and what duties are expected to be performed and how.

HANDLERS CLINIC:  Howard Zimmerman explained how a Handlers Clinic works and the benefits which may be gained by attending a clinic.  The members present were polled and 7 members will plan to attend.  Pat McKinley will submit our request to International.  The first choice of dates being June 24-25, 2006.  The second choice is June 3-4, 2006.  More information will be forthcoming on this clinic.

Secretary's note:  Western Illinois NAVHDA recommeded their chapter NOT conduct a Handlers Clinic in 2006, but support Spoon River's Clinic instead.

FUN HUNT:  The idea of holding a fun hunt was discussed.  The members liked the idea and appointed a committee to proceed with the plans.  The date was set for April 29, 2006 at Gobblers Knob.  The committee chairperson will be Jeff Henke.  Committee members will be Bill VanDerlaan, Pat McKinnley, and Steve Roehm.  The fun hunt will consist of segments of Clay Birds and Field work.  Food will be available.  The committee will get together with Don Deuel to finalize plans, establish a price and rules.

Secretary's note:  Western Illinois NAVHDA would like to extend an invitation to all of you as they will be holding their second annual fun hunt on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Henke Residence, 10447 - 55th Street, Wapello, IA  52653.  For additional information see:  http://home.mchsi.com/~navhda/  click on Fun Hunt.

WEB SITE:  Our deepest appreciated is extended to Larry Dale for creating and hosting the Spoon River web site.  Larry also obtained the Domain name for us.  As a token of our appreciation, Spoon River NAVDHA will give Larry a paid Chapter membership for his kindness.  Jeff Olson will also begin working with Larry on keeping the website up to date and fresh.INTERNATIONAL REPORT:  Howard Zimmerman advised the members on a new Limited Registration - Breeding Restriction program available through International NAVHDA. The new program offers breeders greater control over dogs they produce as it pertains to breeding and registering offspring from these dogs.

CLOSING THOUGHTS:  If you are planning an outing to an area Hunt Club . . . Make Your Plans at Gobblers Knob!!  Don has bent over backwards to host the Spoon River Chapter.  He has made his fields and birds available to us any time we have asked.  Gobblers is a great place to take your family and friends for an enjoyable day in the field and Don will appreciate the business. Gobblers Knob, 26471 East State Highway 9, Canton, IL  61520 (309) 647-3641
