The Spoon River NAVHDA Chapter held its first TEST DAYS on September 30th - October 2nd, 2005.
20 dogs were entered over the three day test period: 13 dogs were registered for the Natural Ability Test and 7 dogs were registered for the Utility Test.
Friday's tests were held at Gobbler's Knob Hunting Preserve in Canton, and the weekend tests were held at Banner Marsh Conservation Area near Banner, Illinois.
Test results from this event are posted on the main NAVHDA web site at http://navhda.org/test5_7.html (scroll down to near the bottom of the page.) The results may look like a big mess of letters and numbers to you. Here is the official rundown on what it all means. example: Somebody's Dog, VZ, 2.17, 106, II The first information is the dog's name. This is followed by the breed abbreviation, and a numeral which stands for the years or months of age, depending upon the test type (NA test ages are given in months, UPT and UT in years). The next number is the points the dog received in the test (106), and the final information is the prize the dog achieved (II). For an excellent explanation of test faults referring to teeth, read Canine Dentition by Margo B. Maloney, DVM. Click here to learn more about the NAVHDA testing program.
