The South-Central Illinois Chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association

What is a "Versatile Hunting Dog" as defined by NAVHDA?

The North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association defines versatility as "the dog that is bred and trained to dependably hunt and point game, to retrieve on both land and water, and to track wounded game on both land and water."

At NAVHDA events, you will see some familiar breeds such as Shorthaired Pointers and the Brittany, but many other less common breeds are represented; such as Pudelpointers, Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, Spinone, etc. Click Here to learn more about the versatile hunting breeds by linking to the NAVHDA web site.
